Mound Bayou 1968
This painting is a recreation of a Howard Bingham's 1968 Life Magazine photo. Mr. Bingham was sent on assignment to Mound Bayou, Mississippi to document through his evocative photographic eyes the tragedy of a once prosperous Southern town cut off from necessary survival resources. In 2011, Mr. Bingham licensed Artist PeQue to recreate the photo as an airbrushed mural (9' x 24') in Watts, California. The artwork is on the walls of a training location named for the renown photographer, The Howard Bingham Multimedia Institute, (Watts Labor Community Action Committee).
